Safety and Training Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Safety and Training Coordinator responsible for planning, training, cultivating, implementing, overseeing, and promoting a safe work culture while ensuring the company complies with and adheres to all applicable state/federal guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. The successful applicant will be committed to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.

Role / Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all areas of safety including the creation of goals and programs to assist with employee training and education to cultivate a safe culture and increase employee retention.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current SOP’s and work to further establish and implement a SOP training program focused on job understanding/confidence to increase employee retention.
  • Work with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) trainer to train and improve employee retention.
  • Responsible for crew knowledge and accountability for meeting MSHA standards, such as work area inspections.
  • Work with MSHA to timely and properly satisfy compliance.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing a safety program that meets the standards set forth by MSHA and improves employee retention. MSHA responsibilities include proper completion of all required documentation, including completion of quarterly reports, and tracking of work hours.
  • Responsible for demonstrating and encouraging the importance of daily housekeeping and the responsibility of all employees to maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Promote teambuilding across all employees, departments and shifts within the operations.
  • Responsible for all areas of safety, and assisting with hiring/terminations, personnel needs/issues, teambuilding, and employee discipline.
  • Responsible for proper documentation and completion of tasks and employee training to provide a safe work environment.
  • Provide support and fill in for other managers as needs arise.
  • Review department-related invoices for accuracy.
  • Involvement in project planning and safe execution.
  • Always maintain successful community relations, including communicating and fostering harmonious neighborly relationships with adjacent landowners and community.
  • Procure all safety equipment and supplies for the mine site. Inventory necessary supplies.
  • Responsible for adhering to all DEP Environmental Permit guidelines, monitoring of all wetland borders, and documenting all storm water runoff.
  • Work with truck drivers, daily, to ensure daily safety compliance is being met.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, problem solving, and logistics as needed for the mine site.
  • Perform any other tasks related to the mine or assigned by management.

Experience / Skills Required

  • Extensive knowledge of CFR Part 48.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and record keeping.
  • Excellent team player with an ability to build strong relationships with other managers, subordinates, and colleagues.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work and/or lead, independently, as necessary.
  • Basic computer skills and in-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization/planning skills.
  • Eager to learn and grow with the Company to assume new roles and responsibilities, including supervision of operations.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of crane rigging.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting operations for all equipment.
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards in the workplace and correct them. Conform to all MSHA regulations.
  • Ability to perform excellent inspections, and delegate required corrections and repairs through Work Order system.
  • Ability to learn all in-house quality control testing.
  • Positively represent the Company by displaying a professional and courteous demeanor towards individuals within and outside the organization whether in person, via phone, or written communication, consistent with the Company core values.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Experience / Skills Desired

  • Extensive knowledge of sand mining, pumping, and heavy equipment maintenance preferred, but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Able to maneuver up to 50 +/- pounds, regularly.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high stress environment.
  • Operate heavy equipment and other tools necessary for job completion.
  • Work outside in varying weather and heat conditions.
  • Endure continuous standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing on a regular basis.
